The South Eastern railway has decided to install close circuit television cameras (CCTV) at ten different stations with an aim to increase railway security. They will be installed at seven stations at the Kharagpur-Tatanagar-Rourkella section. The stations covered under this scheme will be Sardih, Jhargram, Gidhni, Goelkera, Manoharpur, Jaraikela and Bhalulata. The Kharagpur-Adra section will have CCTVs at Godapaisal, Shalbani and Piardoba stations. All the stations in this section are where night running of trains is restricted due to fear of naxalite or Maoist threats. The total costs of the project which is aim that commissioning by April next year is 3.70crore rupees.
