SDF bags remaining three Municipal wards

In Sikkim, the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front Party today bagged the remaining three Municipal wards too ,polling for which were held on Tuesday,27th April. <br/><br/>The three wards were Tadong and Burtuk under the Gangtok Municipal Corporation and the Upper Rangpo Bazzar under the Rangpo Municipal Panchayat.<br/><br/>AIR Gangtok correspondent observes that the today’s election results had been a foregone conclusion after the Sikkim Democratic Front Party did a clean sweep in 44 out of 47 Municipal wards in the State without any contest earlier. <br/><br/>The Opposition Parties in the State ,including the Congress, BJP and CPM , had boycotted the first ever Municipal elections in Sikkim , protesting against certain provisions of the existing State Municipal Act.<br/>
