Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place today for 15 States and 3 Union Territories for the Lok Sabha polls. These are, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Chandigarh and Lakshadweep. The last date of withdrawal of candidature in these states and union territories is the 26th of this month.
Meanwhile, today is the last day for the withdrawal of nomination papers for the first phase of polls in Assam, Tripura and Bihar.
In Assam, nomination of 54 candidates have been found valid. First phase of polling will be held on 7th of next month in five seats.
In Tripura, 13 nominations were filed and none got rejected in the scrutiny, which was held on 22nd of this month. The candidates include CPI(M), INC, AITMC and AAP. Tripura will go to polls on the 7th of April.
In Bihar, after scrutiny 85 candidates are left in the fray in the first phase. On these 6 seats, major candidates like Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar, Bihar Vidhan Sabha Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary, LJP leader Chirag Paswan, Senior BJP leader Giriraj Singh are in fray. Polling in Bihar will be held on the 10th of this month.
