Scrutiny of nomination papers for 2nd phase UP polls ends

In Uttar Pradesh, the scrutiny of nomination papers for second phase ended on Tuesday. AIR correspondent quoting official sources reports that the papers of a few independents and candidates of smaller parties were rejected on technical grounds.The nomination process continued for third phase of assembly polls. 28th January is last date for filing nominations. Political leaders are campaigning for their party candidates for the first and second phase elections.The Election Commission organised a rally of school children today to make people aware of their voting rights.The rally covering a distance of 52 kilometres started from Ramsanehi Ghat in Barabanki and concluded on borders of Lucknow covering more than two dozen assembly constituency areas.AIR Gorakhpur correspondent reports, a 52 Km long motivational rally was organised this evening by school children from Barabanki to Lucknow to stress the importance of voting in the largest Indian state.The atmosphere was festive as young voters and people in large number gathered on the occasion.The commission plans to organise oath ceremony on Wednesday in each district in which the young and new voters will take pledge to vote.
