SCR cancels 124 trains passing via AP due to Rail Roko agitation

In Andhra Pradesh, about 124 trains including express and long distance trains have been cancelled in 11 sections of South Central Railway due to the call for Rail Roko agitation by Telangana protestors.
Over 50 more trains have been partially cancelled while 95 other trains have been diverted, rescheduled or regulated for the next three days.

The cancellation of train services will also affect the services to other states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharastra, Kerala and Goa.

The South Central Railway authorities announced that the changes would be affective from midnight today.
However, 20 express and passenger trains would be run for the benefit of commuters with tight security.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the security of passengers and to protect Railway properties.

Director General of Police Dinesh Reddy warned the agitators of stringent action under the Railway Act.

AIR correspondent reports, the normal life in the Telangana region continues to be affected by the strike.
