Science and Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday said scientific cooperation between India and Canada is the need of the hour. He said, relationship between the two countries can be strengthened by high-quality and high impact discoveries in science and technology. <br/><br/>Addressing India-Canada Technology Summit in New Delhi, Dr Harsh Vardhan said, harnessing Science and Technology that connects people and market can help the economy of two nations. He said India is tremendously focussed on advanced technology development and the country ranks 3rd in Science publications, with a growth rate of 14 per cent. <br/><br/>He said, technology-led innovation under Startup India has become a national movement in India. The Minister said, Canada has successfully integrated academia with innovation and business. Dr Harsh Vardhan said India and Canada are at the same level with respect to IP filings and the two sides can jointly create a greater impact. <br/><br/>On the occasion, the Minister also launched 'Call for Proposals of India-Canada Industrial Research and Development Program' website. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Navdeep Bains announced 2 initiatives, a 13 Million dollar research and development investment and a 6 Billion dollar investment in innovation and development.
