Science City to come up soon in Assam

In Assam, a State-of-the-art Science City is coming up soon at Sonapur near Guwahati at a cost of around 100 crore rupees.The project will be implemented in an environment-friendly manner in cooperation with the National Council of Science Museum.The State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi disclosed this in Guwahati yesterday. He said a United Nations Resource Centre, a full-fledged Tribal Research Centre and a Golf Course will also be established in the proposed Science City.The Chief Minister instructed the Chief Secretary Naba Kumar Das and other concerned officials to take immediate action on allocating land for the proposed project site.Mr. Gogoi said the Science City would be set up as a central spot of tourist attraction considering its proximity with the one-horned rhino famous Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary.He said the proposed Science City will be named as ‘Mini Assam’ and it will represent the models of all historical spots, traditional village life, art and culture, heritage sites, national parks and overall natural scenario of the State.
