Centre has expressed happiness over re opening of schools and colleges in Jammu and Kashmir after people disregarded a call by one faction of Hurriyat leaders.In a statement issued in New Delhi on Monday, the Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram appealed all section of people particularly parents to cooperate with the state government to ensure that all educational institutions function normally.Mr. Chidambaram said that there were some minor incidents of stone pelting on school buses at three places and questioned how can any right thinking persons pelt stones on school buses.He expressed hope that such mischiefs will stop immediately.Mr. Chidambaram asserted anyone interested in the functioning of schools and colleges cannot indulge in stone pelting or extend any support to such mischievous attempts.The Home Minister expressed confidence that few schools and colleges that remained closed on Monday, will reopen on Tuesday and attendance will improve significantly.He said government of Jammu and Kashmir has assured that every effort is being made to ensure that education institutions function normally and to provide security to students to attend schools and colleges.Ahead of the opening of the schools, the Centre on Saturday announced an eight point package to address the concerns of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.In a related development, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has directed the expert group set up by him to ensure the employment opportunities generated in Jammu and Kashmir are sustainable.An official release said, Dr. Singh reviewed the work of the Expert Group headed by former RBI Governor C Rangarajan.The Prime Minister had set up the panel of experts on August 10 to formulate a job plan for Jammu and Kashmir.
