In Tamil Nadu, a school in Tiruttani where former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had studied, was renovated and named after him to mark his birthday observed as Teacher's Day today. The more than 100-year-old Panchayat Union Middle School, which was renovated at a cost of 90 lakh rupees, was renamed as Dr Radhakrishnan Middle School. Dr Radhakrishnan had studied in the school for seven years. The dilapidated school structure was demolished and a new school with all facilities, was constructed in its place.A bust of Dr Radhakrishnan was also unveiled in the school premises where a photo exhibition depicting the life history of the great teacher was organised.
