Scheme to carry IDs during Tatkal travel comes into force from Friday

In view of the complaints on alleged irregularities in Tatkal Schemes, Railways has decided to reintroduce the need of carrying Identity Proof for the passengers travelling on Tatkal Tickets from tomorrow. According to an official release, the passengers will have to produce the identity proof in original, failing which they will be treated as travelling without tickets and will be charged excess fare and penalty as per rules. However, no such proof is required to be produced at the reservation counter while getting the Tatkal ticket booked.
