The Communication Minister A Raja has said that there is no change in the schedule for the auction of Third Generation (3G) and BWA services to provide fast internet on mobiles phones. The minister was talking to reporters after inaugurating the three-day India Telecom-2009 international exhibition at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Thursday. The process of auction, slated to begin on 14th of January next year is expected to be completed by February. There was speculation that the auction of 3G may be deferred as more time is needed to coordinate and assign the airwaves vacated by the armed forces.<br/><br/>Mr Raja, accompanied by Minister of State for Communications Sachin Pilot, also said that the 11-digit mobile numbering system will soon be introduced to avoid congestion in the networks.<br/> <br/>AIR correspondent reports that the Indian telecom sector is experiencing a continued boom in both mobile and broadband uptake. With 10 to 15 million subscriber additions every month, India is fast becoming the telecommunications hub of the region. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is scheduled to release a report on India Telecom and deliver an address on Friday.<br/>
