The Government has decided to enhance subsidy on seeds and diesel in view of deficient rainfall in different parts of the country. Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Mr Harish Rawat said that the Centre is also channelizing funds available under various flagship schemes for drought relief activities including up-scaling central sector scheme on feed and fodder. Besides, states are also being given financial assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund to deal with natural calamities of severe nature. Mr Rawat said contingency plans for 343 districts spread over 19 states have been prepared for the purpose.
