SC upholds Alistair Pereira's conviction, jail term

The Supreme Court today upheld the conviction and three years jail term given to Mumbai businessman Alistair Pereira for mowing down seven persons by his speeding car in 2006.

A Bench headed by Justice R M Lodha cancelled his bail and directed him to undergo his remaining jail term. The court passed the order on a special leave petition filed by Pereira, challenging the Bombay High Court verdict convicting him.

Seven persons were killed and seven others injured when
Pereira ran his car over them on November 12, 2006 in Mumbai.
