Even as both Kerala and Tamil Nadu have adopted tough postures in the Mullapperiyar dam safety issue, the Supreme Court is to hear the pleas of both states on Tuesday. Expressing confidence that the issue will be sorted out amicably between the states with Central assistance, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that certain vested interests are projecting the issue as a tussle between the states.Meanwhile, the opposition LDF has decided to join the all party delegation reaching Delhi in coming days to seek urgent Central help. At the same time, at Kambammedu check-post near Idukki, Tamil Nadu police had to resort to lathicharge to stop farmers and workers entering Kerala. Prohibitory order at the border is continuing and traffic through Kumily and Kambammedu check-posts is affected for the last one week.
