The Supreme Court today virtually ticked off the government in Chhattisgarh, hit by Maoist violence, suggesting its writ does not run in half the state. <br/><br/>A Bench of Justices R V Raveendran and H L Gokhale quipped that in 50 per cent of the districts, there is no government.<br/><br/>The Bench made the remarks after the counsel for Chhattisgarh government claimed during the hearing of a PIL that the state was assiduously implementing the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2000. He claimed the state had set up a District Welfare Board and Child Welfare Committees, prompting the Bench to make the comments.<br/><br/>Chhattisgarh has been the hotbed of Maoist violence in recent months which witnessed the killing of 76 CRPF personnel in Dantewada this year on April 6, followed by the Narayanpur killing of 26 other personnel on June 29.
