The Supreme Court today stayed a Bombay High Court order which had set aside the Maharashtra government's notification protecting Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan Trust members. The High Court had asked the Maharashtra government to revisit the appointments to the Managing Committee of the Trust which oversees the affairs of the shrine.<br/><br/>A bench, headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justice R Banumathi, issued notices to the PIL petitioners after hearing a plea filed by the Maharashtra government. <br/><br/>The state government in its notification had said that Shirdi Sansthan Trust members would be protected from criminal prosecution and there were many PILs which had challenged it before the Bombay High Court. <br/><br/>The Bombay High Court had earlier set aside the Maharashtra government notification. It was later subsequently challenged by the Maharashtra government in the Supreme Court. <br/><br/>After hearing the Maharashtra government's plea, the apex court stayed the High Court order and issued the notice to PIL petitioners in the matter. <br/>
