The Supreme Court has sought the Centre's response on a fresh plea for distribution of 20 million tonnes of additional food grain to the poor at subsidised rates instead of allowing it to rot in go-downs. Additional Solicitor General Mohan Parasaran assured a Bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma that he would seek suitable instructions on the directions and file his response within two weeks as it involves large financial outlay.
