SC ruling on 2G allocation not indictment of govt: Khurshid

Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid said that Supreme Court ruling on 2G allocation was not an indictment of the government and it would be honoured. Law Minister said this to the reporters, in Shohratgarh, Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal had welcomed the Supreme Court's judgement and said as per direction of the Supreme Court his ministry will move forward in the issue after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, TRAI make its recommendations.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, TRAI, Chairman J S Sarma said there will not be much impact on subscribers due to cancellation of 122 2G licenses of eight companies.

Opposition parties including BJP and CPI also welcomed the apex court verdict. BJP leader Arun Jaitley said, Chidambaram himself must consider his continuance as Home Minister as untenable.

CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan said it was Chidambaram's job as the then Finance Minister to prevent irregularities.
