The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition seeking a complete ban on online messaging platform WhatsApp.<br/><br/>An RTI activist had filed a case in the Apex Court, seeking ban on Whatsapp and other messenger services, which have end to end encryption. <br/><br/>256 bit encryption means that government as well as Whatsapp itself would have no means of accessing these messages. <br/><br/>Citing this as a National Security concern the petitioner wanted the messaging platform to provide a key for the government.
