SC refuses to stay Delhi HC verdict declaring LG as administrative head of Delhi

Supreme Court today issued notice to Centre on six appeals of Delhi government challenging the High Court verdict that held that LG is administrative head of the national capital. However it refused to stay for now the operation of High Court verdict. <br/><br/>A bench of justices A K Sikri and N V Ramana also did not agree with the contention that the decision of Lieutenant Governor to set up a three-member committee to look into the past decisions of the Delhi government should be stayed. <br/><br/>The bench said it may consider referring the petitions to a larger bench after hearing arguments. <br/><br/>The Supreme Court has granted six weeks time to Centre to file replies and fixed them for final hearing on 15th of November. <br/><br/>The high court had on 4th of August held that Delhi will continue to remain a Union Territory under the Constitution with the LG as its administrative head.
