The Supreme Court today declined to entertain a PIL seeking its intervention to end the ongoing stir at Film and Television Institute of India, FTII opposing the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as Chairman. <br/><br/>A bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice Amitava Roy said, it is the duty of the Centre and Information and Broadcasting Ministry to end the strike so that the tension in Pune comes to end and the careers of FTII students are not affected. <br/><br/>The Bench was hearing a PIL, filed by a Supreme Court lawyer. The PIL alleged that the Centre was not taking effective steps to bring back normalcy in the the FTII at Pune which has been witnessing the students' agitation for almost three months now.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the protesting students, who have been agitating for 82 days, today threatened to go on hunger strike en-masse if their main demand of removal of actor Gajendra Chauhan as chairman of the premier institute was not met by the Centre. FTII Students' Association, FSA, representatives told a press conference today. However, FSA did not set any date to start the hunger strike.
