The Supreme Court has refused to change its order on holding a single entrance test for MBBS and BDS courses across the country. Clarifying that the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) will go on as per the schedule, the apex court yesterday also sought wide publicity from CBSE and the Centre to dispel public anxiety over the exam. <br/><br/>Hearing on the state governments' plea to hold separate exams this year, the apex court however asked Union Health Ministry and the Medical Council of India (MCI) to respond by Thursday on the issue. <br/><br/>Some of the states argued in court that the exam is only available in English and it puts students who are not proficient in the language at a disadvantage. The court heard the arguments but refused to put off the exam. It will hear the matter again on Thursday. <br/><br/>According to the schedule, the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) scheduled for May 1 was treated as first round of the NEET. However, those who did not apply for AIPMT will be given opportunity to appear in round two on July 24.
