Supreme Court today granted recognition to transgender as third category of sex.

The apex court has directed the Centre and the states to provide facilities of healthcare and education to transgender, saying they are socially backward community.

Acting on a PIL, the court expressed concern over discrimination and harassment of transgender in the country and said they have equal rights to education, employment and social acceptability.
