SC questions carving out Sub-Quota for minorities on religious grounds

The Supreme Court today questioned carving out 4.5 per cent Sub-Quota for minorities on religious grounds in the Central Educational Institutions out of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs.

The Court issued notices and sought response from petitioners who had challenged the Sub-Quota.

The Government yesterday placed before the Court relevant material and documents in support of its decision to grant Sub-Quota to Minorities.

Hearing the case, the Supreme Court had refused to stay the Andhra Pradesh High Court Order, quashing the 4.5 per cent Sub-Quota.
