The Supreme Court has ordered implementation of recommendations of Majithia Wage Board for journalists and non-journalists in newspapers and news agencies. The apex court dismissed petitions of various newspapers challenging the recommendations of the wage board.

The revised wages will be payable from November 11, 2011, the day the Centre had notified the recommendations. The Court ruled that the recommendations to be implemented from April 2014 and all arrears will have to be paid in four instalments within a year.
