SC order reasserts supremacy of legislative assembly: Rawat

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has welcomed the Supreme Court's order for a floor test in the state Assembly. <br/><br/>Rawat told reporters soon after the apex court's order came that the order reasserts the supremacy of the legislature in a democracy and hoped it will help end the political uncertainty in the state. <br/><br/>Exuding confidence that he had the numbers, Rawat said the MLAs have to vote for Uttarakhand's honour during floor test. Incidentally, the petition of the disqualified MLAs will come up tomorrow before the Uttarakhand High Court.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, Congress has urged Central government not to conspire against Congress-ruled State governments. The Party expressed satisfaction over Supreme Court's decision for a floor test in Uttarakhand. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, the Central government should stop playing with the mandate of the people.
