The Supreme Court has declined to give an urgent hearing to Centre's plea to restrain Cyprus ship which collided with an Indian warship from going out of Indian jurisdiction.
The two ships collided at the Mumbai port on January 31st last year and the government had sought compensation of about 48 crore rupees saying the damage to the warship was extensive.
In an urgent hearing, justices H L Dattu and B S Chauhan assembled on a weekend in the Supreme Court but refused to pass any order. Posting the matter for hearing on Monday, the bench said that it cannot set a precedent to take up such matters on an unsitting day.
