The Supreme Court has modified its November 2016 order suspending all licences for sale and retail of fire crackers within Delhi and NCR. The Court said, suspension of permanent licences is lifted for time being and it may need a review after Diwali depending on air quality. <br/><br/>The Apex Court also directed Delhi Police to reduce grant of temporary licences by about 50 per cent of those granted in 2016 and put the cap at 500. <br/>'<br/>The Highest Court also appointed committee to conduct study on health of people due to bursting of crackers during festival time. <br/><br/>The Court said, government and authorities should consider encouraging display of fireworks through community participation rather than individual bursting of crackers. Earlier in November last year, Supreme Court had banned the sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR and asked the government not to issue new licences to any seller in this region
