SC issues notice to CVC and Centre on PIL challenging CVC's appointment

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Central Vigilance Commissioner P J Thomas on a plea seeking his removal from the key post. The apex court also issued notice to the government on the petition challenging the appointment of Mr Thomas as the CVC on the ground that he is facing corruption charges. The court listed the matter for final hearing on the 27th of next month. Earlier, Mr Thomas faced stinging observations from the apex court on his capacity as CVC chief to oversee CBI investigations in the 2G spectrum allocation scam. Reacting to the Court order, Mr Thomas expressed happiness at the development. He said “I am glad the court has given me an opportunity to present my views. This will be done in the form of a counter affidavit and all details would be submitted to the court.”
