SC issues notice to Centre and States on security arrangements at religious places

Supreme Court has issued notice to the Centre and all state governments on a plea seeking its direction to them to provide proper security arrangements at public places, particularly at religious places that recently witnessed loss of lives of pilgrims in stampede. A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam yesterday asked them to file their response on a PIL alleging that they have failed to ensure safety and security of the lives of pilgrims visiting religious places.

The petitioner submitted that governments are not making proper security arrangements at public places and sought the apex court's intervention.
