The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the CBI on the bail plea of former Jharkhand minister Enos Ekka. He is in jail for over two years in a disproportionate assets case. A bench of the apex court sought the response of the investigative agency on the status of the case against Ekka.The court passed the order on the petition filed by Ekka challenging the Jharkhand High Court's verdict denying him bail. Ekka was a minister in the erstwhile BJP-led NDA and Madhu Koda-led coalition governmentsEkka was arrested in 2009 for alleged amassing wealth more than his known sources of income during their tenure between 2005 and 2008. Earlier last year, the apex court had rejected the bail pleas of Ekka.
