The Supreme Court today granted bail to Lieutenant Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit in the 2008 Malegaon serial blast case. <br/><br/>A bench of Justices RK Agrawal and AM Sapre said, it is setting aside the Bombay High Court order by which the bail was denied. <br/><br/>The apex court observed that the charge sheets filed by different agencies contradicted each other.<br/><br/>Seven people were killed in a bomb blast at Malegaon in Nasik district of Maharashtra on 29th September, 2008.<br/><br/>A special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court had ruled that the Anti-Terrorism Squad wrongly applied the law against Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, Purohit and nine others. <br/><br/>The charge sheet had named Pragya Thakur, Purohit and co-accused Swami Dayanand Pandey as the key conspirators. However, Pragya Thakur was given clean chit by the National Investigation Agency last year.
