The Supreme Court today extended the interim bail to former Union Minister Sukh Ram till August 7th in a 1993 telecom scam case.
A Bench headed by Justice P. Sathasivam also extended the bail to former bureaucrat Runu Ghosh and Hyderabad-based businessman P Rama Rao, the co-accused in the case.
On January 9, the Bench had granted interim bail to the three accused till today. Sukh Ram was granted interim bail by the apex court after he had surrendered before a trial court to serve his three- year sentence in the case. Ghosh and Rao had also surrendered to serve their two and three-year jail terms respectively.
On December 21 last year, the Delhi High Court had upheld the lower court's 2002 judgment, holding Sukhram, Runu Ghosh and P Rama Rao guilty in the case.
