The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a PIL that sought to restrain political parties from forging post-poll alliances and declaring this practice as unconstitutional. The court underlined that the issue was completely political and there was no reason why a court of law should interfere.
The petition had challenged the legal and constitutional validity of post-poll alliances among political parties, contending the electors had no idea of such a possibility when they cast their votes. It claimed that the practice was a breach of the promises made by the parties during the election campaigns and the same also violated their own manifestos.
