Supreme Court today dismissed a case filed against Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi by former Samajwadi Party MLA Kishore Samrite. The Court slapped 10 lakh rupees fine on the petitioner for filing a baseless petition. A two judge bench of the apex court said that out of this amount, five lakh rupees will be paid to Rahul Gandhi and another five lakhs to kiriti Singh, Dr.Balram Singh and Ms. Sushila.

The Court maintained CBI shall continue the investigation as per the order of the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court and submit its report to the Court of competent jurisdiction not later than six months from the day of passing the order.

The bench passed the order on an appeal filed by S P MLA challenging the ruling of the Allahabad High Court which had dismissed his plea against Gandhi and imposed a fine of 50 lakh rupees on him for filing a frivolous petition.
