Supreme Court has dismissed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on money laundering charges. A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, MM Sundresh, and Bela Trivedi told Hemant Soren's counsel to approach the Jharkhand High Court for bail. Hemant Soren was arrested late Wednesday night. In his petition, Hemant Soren contended before the Supreme Court that the ED had abused its power and acted in a malafide manner to destabilise a democratically-elected state government. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that the former Jharkhand Chief Minister is involved in a 600-crore rupees land scam and the laundering of its proceeds.
