Supreme Court yesterday directed Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments to fill over 2 lakh police vacancies in the states in four years. <br/><br/>The Apex Court said that filling up of the posts will help in dealing with the law and order problem. <br/><br/>The Apex Court directed the UP government to start filling up the 1,01,619 currently vacant posts in the police and asked the state Government to start recruiting 30,000 constables every year from August this year.<br/>'<br/>The bench of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice D Y Chandrachud, which heard the matter asked the Home Secretaries of Gujarat, Telangana and Rajasthan to be personally present on 1st of May and suggest the roadmap to fill up over 50,000 police vacancies. <br/><br/>The Court expressed dissatisfaction with the responses of West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand in the matter and sought by 1st May, a fresh road maps from Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal regarding filling of vacant posts in police.
