Supreme Court today directed states to appoint senior cops as nodal officers in districts to prevent cow vigilantism in the country. The apex court asked the state chief secretaries to file detailed report on actions taken to curb cow vigilantism. The court also sought Centre's reply on whether it has the responsibility under the Constitution to direct states on actions to curb cow vigilantism.
