SC directs K'taka, Tamil Nadu to ensure there is no violence in both states

The Supreme Court has directed Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to ensure there is no violence, destruction of property in both states following its order on Cauvery water sharing. <br/><br/>The court asserted that the people cannot take law into their hands. It warned that when there is court order, there should not be any violent agitations and any party aggrieved has the liberty to take legal recourse for mitigation of their grievances.<br/><br/>The apex court, which posted the hearing on 20th of this month<br/>on the plea for direction to both states to take preventive measures and assessing the damages to public and private properties during agitation, said it will also take up the main matter of Cauvery water dispute.

The Supreme Court has directed Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to ensure there is no violence, destruction of property in both states following its order on Cauvery water sharing. <br/><br/>The apex court was hearing a plea seeking direction to the Centre, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to maintain law and order in the two states witnessing violent protests over the issue. <br/><br/>Yesterday, after hearing a PIL seeking urgent hearing of the case, a bench, headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur, directed the plea to be listed for today.
