The Supreme Court today directed the Allahabad High Court to dispose off within four months a batch of writ petitions challenging the Constitutional validity of Mayawati Government's decision to construct memorials and statues of Dalit icons at a cost of 2600 crore rupees. A bench of Justices H S Bedi and A K Patnaik, however, permitted the state government to carry out certain minor maintenance work at the site where it had earlier stayed all construction activities.<br/>
