In a major relief for former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, a Constitution bench of the Supreme Court has quashed his expulsion from the state Assembly. He was expelled for his alleged involvement in the Amritsar land allotment scam. <br/><br/>A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan held that the state Assembly had no power to expel Amarinder Singh and others for what was their executive action. The court also restored the seat of Amarinder Singh which was declared vacant by the Assembly due to his expulsion.<br/>
