The Supreme Court Collegium headed by the Chief Justice of India, Mr Justice K G Balakrishnan has conveyed to the central government to drop the name of Karnataka High Court chief justice, Mr P D Dinakaran from the list of those recommended for elevation to the Supreme Court. The decision has cleared the decks for elevation of four other judges to the Supreme Court. They are Justice A K Patnayak, chief justice of Madhya Pradesh High court, Justice Tirath Singh Thakur, chief justice of Punjab and Haryana High court, Justice K S Radhakrishna, chief justice of Gujarat High Court and Justice S S Nijjar, chief justice of Calcutta High Court.<br/>Chief Justice Mr Justice K G Balakrishnana said the decision of the Supreme Court collegium taken last week, have been conveyed to centre, which decided not to promote justice Dinakaran till the probe against him is completed. There are allegations of corruption and land encroachment against Justice Dinakaran.
