The Supreme Court today asked all states and Union territories to consider prohibiting the use of pet coke and furnace oil by industries. <br/><br/>The court said, these were a cause of pollution not only for the National Capital Region but the entire nation.<br/>'<br/>The apex court has already banned the use of pet coke and furnace oil from 1st November in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. <br/><br/>The bench, comprising justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta made the remarks after the Centre said, it asked the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) two days back to issue a direction prohibiting their use in these three states with immediate effect until further orders.<br/>'<br/>The bench has fixed the matter for hearing on 4th of December.
