SC asks Samsung Chief to surrender before G'bad court in criminal case

The Supreme Court has ordered Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee to surrender before a trial court in Ghaziabad in a criminal case. The apex court also directed that arrest warrant against Lee Kun-hee be not executed for six weeks.

This comes after the Samsung Chairman approached the apex court seeking that a criminal case and non bailable warrants issued against him be quashed. The complaint against Samsung and Lee Kun-hee is that they failed to honour a payment of $ 1.4 million.

The Ghaziabad trial court had first issued a non-bailable warrant against Kun-hee in 2012 after which Samsung's boss had approached the Allahabad High Court for relief.

The High Court declined to quash the case and termed Kun-hee an absconder and a fugitive following which they approached the Supreme Court.
