Supreme Court today asked the Delhi government and DTC to either shift out Millennium Bus Depot within a year or legalise its existence. The direction came from a bench comprising Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justices Sikri and Banumathi while deciding separate appeals of the Delhi government and DTC.

The appeals were filed against a Delhi High Court order that refused to extend the time to the authorities to shift out the bus depot. The depot was allowed to be constructed on temporary basis to park buses during the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Justice Sikri referring to his judgement passed as a high court judge said DTC cannot be allowed to continue with its depot as it was an admitted position that no construction would be allowed on the flood plain of Yamuna river.
