The Supreme Court today asked the Centre to submit Income Tax assessment details of kith and kin of former Chief Justice of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan. A bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra was hearing a PIL, filed by NGO Common Cause, seeking CBI probe into alleged amassing of<br/>wealth by the kith and kin of Justice Balakrishnan during his<br/>tenure as an apex court judge and Chairperson of the NHRC.<br/><br/>On September 15 last year, the apex court had sought the assistance of the Attorney General to hear a plea and had made it clear that it would not go into the allegations of 'benami'<br/>transactions. <br/><br/>It had said the issue of alleged Income Tax violations could have been looked into. The bench posted the matter for further hearing on July 12.
