The Supreme Court today asked the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, to brief it on the agency's probe on Foreign Investment Promotion Board, FIPB, clearance given to the Aircel-Maxis deal by the UPA government.

A bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu asked the CBI to respond after Subramaniam Swamy submitted that there has been no progress on that front, even though the agency had stated in its charge-sheet that this aspect needed to be probed. The bench has deferred the hearing for October 16 .
