The Supreme Court today directed Asirbad Behera, general secretary of Odisha Olympic Association to stay away from the post. <br/><br/>Hearing a case relating to encroachment of government land by the Odisha Olympic association, the apex court also asked its joint secretary to take charge as general secretary till next hearing scheduled on April 13. <br/><br/>Notably, in May last year, the apex court had directed the Orissa High Court to form a three-member panel of judges to probe the alleged land encroachment on which the Barabati Palace and 23 shops have been erected. <br/><br/>Acting on the directive of the apex court, the probe panel conducted fresh measurement of the encroached land near the Barabati Stadium in September last year. Asirbad Behera has been in the office of general secretary of of Odisha Olympic Association for the past 28 years since 1988.
