SC appoints EAC finds violation of mining rules in Bellary, Karnataka

Supreme Court appointed Chairman of Environment Assessment Committee, EAC, Dr. V.K. Bahuguna, has informed that the Apex Court gag order on mining has brought to a stand still the illegal mining in Karnataka. The team has found violation of mining rules in Bellary. Speaking to media persons in Bangalore on Monday, Dr. Bahuguna said that during his visit to Bellary since last few days, his team evaluated the impact of mining on environment. He added that they will submit their report to the Supreme Court in three months time. He informed that his team will visit the mining areas of Tumkur and Chitradurga on September 12. During the visit of the team, many social groups submitted memorandum seeking redressal of mine workers affected by closure of mining areas in the state.
