The Supreme Court today appointed former Additional Solicitor General, Amrender Sharan as amicus curiae on a plea seeking re-probe of Mahatma Gandhi assassination.<br/><br/>After a brief hearing, the bench comprising Justices S A Bobde and L Nageswara Rao put some searching questions and appointed Amrender Sharan as amicus curiae to assist the court in the matter. The matter is posted for further hearing on October 30th of this month.<br/><br/>The petition has sought reopening of the probe, claiming it was one of the biggest cover-ups in history. Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead at point blank range in New Delhi on January 30, 1948 by Nathuram Vinayak Godse.
